Stateline: With New Tactics, ICE Reaches New High in Monthly Arrests
Stateline reports that ICE made approximately 51,000 arrests of immigrants in July, the highest monthly total under the Trump Administration, as federal agents adopted new enforcement tactics including airport arrests, checkpoints, and roadside operations. AILA Supervisory Policy and Practice Counsel Kate Angustia emphasized that “[m]any of these folks are in a lawful period of authorized stay,” noting that longstanding policy and practice has, for decades, allowed such individuals to remain in the United States while their legal processes are pending.
