Practice Alert: Visa Bond Program for B-1/B-2 Applicants
The requirement, first introduced in August 2025 as a 12-month pilot program, was made permanent by a final rule issued August 3, 2026. Bond amounts are now $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000. DOS intermittently updates the list of countries subject to the requirement, the conditions under which it applies, and the ports of entry where affected individuals may enter.
