NPR: ICE Detained a Venezuelan Soccer Pro. His Case Shows the Immigration Backlog Crisis
NPR reports that Venezuelan professional soccer player Homero Calderón has been detained by ICE for five months while two immigration applications remain pending, including an EB-1A visa application. Shavari Dalal-Dheini, AILA Senior Director of Government Relations, said his case is “symbolic of so many other individuals who are stuck in processing backlogs at USCIS” despite filing their applications timely.
