New York Times: Trump Officials Scrap Effort to Recruit Pentagon Lawyers to Represent Migrant Children
The New York Times reports that the Trump Administration has abandoned a plan to recruit retiring Pentagon lawyers to represent unaccompanied minors in immigration court, after the Administration’s longtime contract with a network of legal nonprofits ended in July. The Administration is relying on short-term contracts for legal services while seeking a long-term provider, leaving questions about how the more than 20,000 unaccompanied minors with pending immigration cases will receive legal representation.
