NBC News: The Trump Administration Is Suspending Microsoft From a Green Card Program, Alleging Fraud
NBC News reports that the Trump Administration is suspending Microsoft from a program that allows companies to seek green cards for H-1B workers, alleging the company abused the program to replace U.S. workers with foreign workers. Vice President JD Vance cited Microsoft’s layoffs of 6,000 U.S. workers and its acquisition of 6,300 H-1B visas and nearly 3,000 green cards. Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment. AILA Executive Director Ben Johnson, in posts shared on X and Bluesky, said, “Need to see the details, but this announcement, if true and as sweeping as it suggests, will land a blow on America’s economy, competitiveness, and the public’s pockets.”
