CNN: ICE Plans to Spend Up to $20 Million on Electrical Shock Gloves for Agents
CNN reports that ICE is planning to spend an estimated $10 million to $20 million on wearable electrical shock gloves for Homeland Security Investigations and Enforcement and Removal Operations personnel. DHS describes the devices as “Conductive Distraction and De-escalation Device[s]” intended to de-escalate encounters, while civil rights and immigration advocates have criticized the proposal amid concerns about ICE’s use of force.
