Associated Press: ICE Hides Locations of Thousands of Detainees With Final Removal Orders
Earlier today, the Associated Press reported that ICE has stopped publicly displaying the locations of thousands of detainees with final removal orders in its Online Detainee Locator System, making it more difficult for attorneys and family members to locate them. AILA members and other immigration attorneys have reported that affected clients have disappeared from the system, with AILA Senior Director of Government Relations Greg Chen noting that the change interferes with the attorney-client relationship and “has serious implications for the ability to contact their client.”
