Associated Press: Appeals Court Rejects the Trump Administration’s Expansion of Mandatory Detention for Immigrants
The Associated Press reports that the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Trump Administration cannot deny immigrants detained inside the United States the opportunity to seek release on bond, deepening a circuit split over the Administration’s mandatory detention policy. The decision addresses DHS guidance expanding mandatory detention to certain immigrants in the U.S. interior and increases the likelihood that the U.S. Supreme Court will consider the issue.
