Temporary Protected Status - SUDAN
| TPS Extension Re-registration Deadline |
11/1/05 |
| TPS Expiration Date |
5/2/07 |
Filing Location: The filing address depends on whether (1) you are re-registering during the registration period, (2) you are re-registering after
the registration period, or (3) you are registering for TPS for the first time.
(1) Re-registration during the Registration Period (deadline: 11/1/05): Submit your application to the USCIS Lockbox at:
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
P.O. Box 6943
Chicago, IL 60680-6943
Or, for non-United States Postal Service deliveries:
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
Attn: TPS Sudan
427 S. LaSalle - 3rd Floor
Chicago, IL 60605
(2)
Re-registration after the Registration Period
(after November 1, 2005): The USCIS Lockbox will not accept late re-registration
applications from aliens from Sudan after the registration period has ended. If you believe you have good cause for your failure to timely file, you may
submit your application with a letter explaining your situation to the Vermont Service Center at:
Vermont Service Center
Attn: TPS Good Cause Exception
75 Lower Welden Street
St. Albans, VT 05479-0001
(3) Registration for TPS for the first time as a late initial registrant: Send your application to the USCIS Lockbox at:
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
P.O. Box 8677
Chicago, IL 60680-8677
Or, for non-United States Postal Service deliveries:
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
Attn: TPS Sudan
427 S. LaSalle - 3rd Floor
Chicago, IL 60605
An applicant for late initial registration must file an application no later than 60 days after the expiration or termination of the conditions listed in 8 CFR 244.2(f)(2).
For minimal disruption of employment authorization while TPS re-registration applications are processed, current EADs of eligible Sudanese TPS beneficiaries will be
extended through February 28, 2006 at the time biometrics are obtained at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC). Extension stickers that indicate a new expiration date
of "February 2006" will be placed on the current EADs of eligible TPS beneficiaries. Therefore, each re-registrant must bring his/her current EAD to the ASC and should bring his/her
ASC appointment notice and receipt notice. Those Sudanese TPS beneficiaries who are applying for a new EAD are encouraged to re-register as soon as possible
to avoid a lapse in valid employment authorization documentation. Once a TPS re-registration application is approved, a new EAD valid until May 2, 2007 will be issued.
